Founders

Prof. Frank Ruddle

Professor Frank Ruddle is the Sterling Professor of Biology, Professor of Human Genetics at Yale University.  He previously served as Chairman of the Department of Biology at Yale.  He is the former Chair of the Science Park Development Corporation, a local technology incubator, and has served on the boards of numerous start-ups and mature biotechnology companies.  Professor Ruddle is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and is member of many other important committees and societies.  He has served as President of the Society of Developmental Biology, the American Society for Cellular Biology and has received dozens of prestigious honors and awards.  Recently, he was honored with the Award for Outstanding Contributions to Technological Development in the State of Connecticut and he received the Yale Science & Engineering Associations Award for Meritorious Service to Yale.  Professor Ruddle is a pioneer in the field of gene transfer technology.  His diverse research contributions range from somatic cell genetics, genomics, and transgenic technologies to the study of developmental and evolutionary roles of vertebrate homeobox genes.

 

<*dv_5*>Prof. Adrian Hayday

<*dv_0*>Professor Adrian Hayday is the Kay Glendenning Chair of Immunology at Guys Hospital London and an Adjunct Professor of Immunobiology at Yale University.  Professor Hayday has served as a scientific consultant to many pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies, including T Cell Sciences, E.G.&G, Pfizer and Onyx.  He is currently Deputy Chair of the Wellcome Trust advisory panel on Infection and Immunity He has received numerous awards and honors, including The William Clyde De Vane Medal, Yale Colleges most prestigious award for excellence in Teaching and Scholarship.  Professor Hayday is an expert in the field of immunobiology and has developed a number of genetic tools for the creation and the targeting of transgenic and knockout mice.

 

<*dv_6*>Dr. Cooduvalli Shashikant

<*dv_3*>Dr. Shashikant is currently an Associate Professor of Molecular and Developmental Biology at the Pennsylvania State University.  As a Senior Research Associate in Frank Ruddles laboratory at Yale University, Dr. Shashikant developed many of the transgenic techniques and tools that have been adopted by AGS.  He will continue to develop new uses for pClasper and other transgenic technologies.
